Entry Requirements

4‑Year AFROTC Program (AS100)

AFROTC is designed and structured as a four‑year program. The core competency of AFROTC is to recruit and train individuals working on their first undergraduate degree. If you are a college level freshman currently enrolled at Florida State University (FSU), Florida A&M University (FAMU), or Tallahassee State College (TSC), register for the AFROTC course AFR 1101 in the fall or AFR 1102 in the spring. You will also be required to register for the Leadership Laboratory (LLAB) course AFR 2233L, a required practical applications class.  As a General Military Course (GMC) cadet, you will be able to try out the program for up to two years without incurring any obligations unless you are on an ROTC scholarship. Review the  4-year program academic map for courses.

Students enrolled at FAMU must complete a FAMU/FSU Co-Op Program application each semester by FSUs deadline.

Students enrolled at TSC will need to complete a TSC/FSU Dual Enrollment application through Florida Shines each semester by FSUs deadline.

For program entry, students must meet the following:

  • Be a full-time undergraduate student
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater
  • Be in good physical condition
  • Have no history of illegal drug use
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or can become one in one year or less
  • Meet Air Force height/weight standards. Students who are over, but within 12 pounds of the maximum weight for their height, may start the AFROTC program, but must meet height/weight standards by the start of their sophomore year.

3‑Year AFROTC Program (AS250)

Students who plan to graduate within 3 years or less are encouraged to contact the detachment at (850) 644‑7153 to discuss available program options.

Students beyond their freshman year may be eligible to enter AFROTC through the 3‑Year Program (AS250).

Qualified students may combine the first two years of AFROTC training into one academic year and complete the program in three years instead of the standard four years. Review the 3-year program academic map

The 3-year pathway is designed for motivated students who demonstrate strong academic performance, physical fitness, and leadership potential, and who can successfully meet additional entry requirements.

This option requires pre-screening and an approval process, including completion of all administrative, medical, academic, and physical fitness requirements by established deadlines.

Failure to meet 3-year entry requirements may result in placement into the standard four‑year program, if eligible.

Students enrolled at FAMU must complete a FAMU/FSU Co-Op Program application each semester by FSUs deadline.

Students enrolled at TSC will need to complete a TSC/FSU Dual Enrollment application through Florida Shines each semester by FSUs deadline.
